We have been waiting for this wedding all year and could not be more honored to work with Tobria and Mike and their families. From their ball park themed engagement to their wedding every detailed tied together beautifully for a Royals Home Run. The Flanders Hall in Excelsior Springs, Missouri proved to be a perfect location as these two tied the knot. Here are just a few sneak peaks from their wedding with more to follow!
Have you ever seen two people so in love they seem to glow? Well Kansas City couple Mehnur and Muhannad take that to a whole new level! The radiance between them is undeniable, and we are just over the moon with these stunning photos from their engagement session at the Overland Park Arboretum.
Mehnur wanted the air of romance in her photos, and the secret garden was the perfect spot with its lush landscape. Clad in a gold sari, Mehnur was a vision to behold, and Muhannad could barely contain his happiness, grinning from ear to ear. It was easy to see how smitten he is with his bride to be. His playfulness brought out the best smiles from Mehnur just adding to the magic of the environment. We are so happy for these two and wish them all the happiness in their journey together.

Once in a while you meet clients who just bring out the little kid in you and invite you to play. Briana and Colin are both loyal fans of comics and their love for each other is just amplified by their love for superheroes. Inspired by their shared interest and ours we planned a superhero themed engagement session at Liberty Memorial in Kansas City, MO. And what fun we had creating supernatural poses of Brianna taking flight as Hawk girl while Colin flashes to her rescue below. These two know how to let loose and go with the flow. We had so much fun making goofy faces, climbing walls and being caught by security. They also brought along their beautiful German Shepard, for some fun in the park and they showed off their favorite city tees and sparked some friendly rivalry with thumb wars. Check out their playful photos below and leave a comment.
Mid America Asian Culture Association (MAACA) held its third annual Asia Culture Festival at Olathe East High School on April 23 drawing a crowd of nearly 10,000 to the school. As representatives of Pakistan, Manny and I were proud to participate with a special photobooth featuring the archways of the Lahore fort as a background for our guests. We are especially proud to nominate two Pakistani-American students for the Outstanding Student Achievement Awards 2016. This year's recipients are Mera Hussain and Adnan Islam. Both were recognized for their academic achievement and civic contribution by Olathe Mayor, Michael Copeland. Please join us in congratulating both students and encouraging them to become the inspiring leaders of tomorrow.

We often get asked this question when talking about the company; "How do you say it and what does Pichakoi mean? " Pronounced Peach-aaa-koey, the word is actually a combination of Japanese and Swahili which literally translates into "For the Love of Image".
When Manny and I were trying to give our brand a name we wanted it to represent several thinks. We wanted it to be unique, of course. We also wanted it to reflect our passion for photography. Third, we wanted the name to reflect the fusion of styles we bring as a team. Our work is a collaboration not just between our distinct styles but also with the couples and families that we work with.
We feel very strongly that your wedding photos should capture the important moments, and those special moments that many people may miss. The moments that happen behind the scenes when the party is going on. The teary eyed grandparents, the cheeky little flower girl, Uncle Joe laughing merrily. These candid moments come with an inquisitive eye for details and moments captured through a documentary style. Then there are the group shots, that show off the beautiful coordination of colors and outfits of the bridal party. The family photos that everyone cherishes and comments on.
Over the years we have done large weddings at grand hotels, and simple weddings in barns. While each wedding is unique and beautiful in its own way, we have discovered there is always a surprise moment that becomes a tear jerker, and we want to be there to capture it all.
We blinked and 2015 is over! Luckily we have proof of some incredible moments from the roller-coaster of adventures. This year we traveled to three states for weddings, shot over a dozen baby sessions and were honored to capture some surprise proposals and the answer was always YES!
If there is one word to describe how we feel about 2015 it would be GRATEFUL.
We started the year off with a series of engagement sessions at a gorgeous local ranch that offered the perfect landscape in the heart of Overland Park, Kansas. We were honored to be a preferred vendors with the Brides Against Breast Cancer. The best part was spending time back stage helping future brides find the perfect dress, then capturing the moments they chose to say "YES TO THE DRESS". We flew to Detroit,MI and then Cleveland, OH for a magical wedding of the Heartsongs where every moment was inspiring and full of love. From the elegant ceremony in the woods lit up by the golden sunlight and adorable children dressed in mystical costumes, the wedding took our breath away. At the Kansas City Westin we experienced a multicultural wedding where the groom made his grand appearance on a horse with a procession of beating drums and dancers. Manny I were honored when our photos won the Best of Shoot & Share photo competition and ecstatic when the Midwest Hot Air Balloon Photo festival selected our photos as winners in two categories. We are grateful for all the opportunities that have come our way and thankful to all our clients who have appreciated and supported our hard work. Big plans are in motion for the new year and we look forward to being part of your incredible journeys in 2016, of course with cameras in hand ready to document every precious moment.
Once again, Thank You and Happy New Year!

Fall is the perfect time to take your family out for a fun photosession in the park. That is just what we did with Justin & Julie and their adorable kids; Kendal and Jackson. We met them at the Olathe Community Center. A great location that offers walking trails, play area, fountains and scenic trees. It is one of the most popular photography locations in the area and we ran into six portrait photographers within the hour. How awesome is that?! Working with children is the best, you can just tag along on their adventure and watch them as they explore their surroundings with wonder. At Pichakoi we strive to make our photo-sessions fun for the kids and let them explore while we document their joy and fascination. Children see the magic in this world and as photographers we are lucky to experience it through their eyes.
One of the biggest perks to being a part of the KC Supercar Club is the opportunity to attend really unique events. The Kansas City Tesla sales folks, donated their time, and opened their doors on a beautiful Saturday Morning especially for us. We had an exclusive look at the facility, a small tour of the workings of the Tesla P85D thanks to a stripped down chassis, a catered breakfast, and best of all...time behind the wheel of this beautiful machine. A few even had the luck to sit in a car with the fabled "ludicrous mode" engaged. This special sports setting rockets the car to 60 in 2.9 seconds. Sitting in the car is an experience in and of itself, with all the touch screen and digital readouts. As soon as you touch the throttle, and you hear the X Wing Fighter style whine as the electric motors start to ramp up, you know it's time to hold on. "Go ahead, do something stupid, give them a show". That's all I needed to hear as I blasted the car out of the parking lot, throwing it into a series of bends one should not take quickly. Best of all I got to hang with the best group of car folks once again. Thank you to Kansas City Tesla, we hope to see you soon! Enjoy the photos.
A sunny Saturday, an empty Major League baseball stadium, an imminent World Series on the horizon, and a soon to be married couple. What more can you ask for? For Tobria and Mike, there wasn't much left wanting during their engagement shoot. We not only got to photograph this fun loving couple, but we had the change to tag along their incredible tour of Kauffman Stadium, the home of the Kansas City Royals. Our tour guide gave us an extra special look at the stadium that helped solidify professional sports in KC. The love that Tobria and Mike have for each other overshadows their love of the game. They were all smiles throughout the entire session, barely able to control their passion for each other, and their excitement for the opportunity to share the stadium together. Stay tuned next year when these two crazy kids solidify their love at their wedding. Congratulations you guys! We can't wait!
Laughter is the best medicine and this clinician knows it. Melissa and Sean know how to have fun; not only did they make each other laugh but we struggled to keep straight faces. We laughed out loud, joked and just had the best time strolling around the Country Club Plaza. You know its true love when she looks at him and giggles, and he smiles with his eyes with a special twinkle.
Laughter, spontaneous dancing, jokes too, just perfect for each other are both of you.
We are grateful to be a part of your journey together and cannot wait to shoot your wedding!

We met Victoria and Alex at the KC Country Club Plaza on a wonderful Fall Sunday morning. The weather just like the couple was incredible. Alex's charm and Victoria's spunk made for a wonderful and seamless session as we strolled the Plaza looking for fun spots. Victoria's beautiful ring captivated my attention and really provided the perfect set for detail shots. Scroll down and enjoy the photos!

I've been a car guy all my life. As long as I can remember I can picture myself smiling at the sound of engines, the squeal of tires, the shine of a fresh polish session to some desperate paint. No matter what the case, I love cars. Last year I was graciously invited to join the best local group of car guys and gals I have ever met. Their love for cars is unmatched, and to top it all off they are some of the most genuine and warm people you could meet. This year my wife and I finally had time off to join these folks on their annual roadtrip to Branson, Mo. This was extra special for me because I used to organize an annual trip for the local Honda scene to Branson every year. This time I not only get to participate, I get to drive one of my dream cars. Many thanks to Dan Gordon for organizing the event, and all the new friends we met this trip. Next time I'll get some pictures of people as well haha.

One last car shoot for the year my friends. A magnificent Nissan GTR Alpha 9 Predator, basking in the morning sun. Thought I'd ask my new friends from the Axe Capoeira Martial Arts School to help us out. Vante was kind enough to show us a little morning workout. More to come.
There are times as a photographer where you truly end up feeling the essence of a wedding. For our friends Stacy and Andy, their wedding day was exactly that. We had the opportunity to photograph their engagement session, and ever since we have been eager to take pictures for the wedding. The Riverwood Winery posed the perfect background for their truly Do It Yourself wedding. Stacy and Andy channeled their creativity and their inner nerds (walking out to the Ballad of Serenity, and leaving to the Star Wars theme) bringing to life a beautiful blend of fun, fantasy, and flavor. Accompanied by their daughter Abbi, you can clearly see there is nothing but love, a lot of laughter, and a little joking around with this family. We can't wait to share the incredible moments we captured during your special day! For now this is just a sneak peak! Congratulations Stacy, Andy, and Abbi. Best wishes.

The number one reason we love our job is that we get to meet incredible individuals doing phenomenal things. We have known Laura for years but just recently got to watch her at a local singing competition where she blew the audience and judges away with her rendition of "If I Ain't Got You' by Alicia Keys. Glowing in her white dress she has a way of mesmerizing the audience as she effortlessly hits all the right notes. She OWNED that talent show and is now auditioning for Tengo Talento, Mucho Talent in LA. We wish her much luck.
Portrait photography is easy when you have a beautiful model like Laura. However there are some tricks of the trade that every photographer should understand. We enhanced Laura's features by posing her in positions she was most comfortable with to really showcase her inner beauty. Using light placement and camera angels we were able to create a variety in her poses for her headshots. Photography requires patience and knowledge not just of the equipment but also the subjects personal style. The best thing about Pichakoi Photography is that we bring the studio to you so you can be at your most comfortable. Need some headshot? Book an appointment today! We service the greater Kansas City area and are available evenings weekdays and weekends.
At Pichakoi we are thrilled to be partnering with Brides Against Breast Cancer.
To be honest; the organization is new to us, but upon reading their mission and scope their of service Manny and I knew we had to be involved. Our business is built on love, for each other, photography and our clients. We are always looking to support local charities and wide influencing non-profit organizations. For the past year we have been brainstorming ideas on a project to honor survivors of cancer and BABC brings us one step closer to brining our ideas to life.
BABC sells all brands of new designer and 'gently worn' wedding gowns. Portion of the proceeds are then used to support education, nutrition, therapy programs to help cancer patients, families and caregivers.
We are looking forward to a strong partnership with BABC and encourage our fans looking for the perfect gown to stop by on August 1 and August 2 at the Overland Park Crowne Plaza. Come and see if you can "Say YES! to the DRESS"

"Do you have black henna?"
I always cringe at the question, before explaining my product is 100% natural henna dye without any harmful chemicals such as PPD that cause deep burns.
"If you ever hear someone say 'black henna' run the other way," I say. Why? Because causing near permanent scars are never worth the dark stains. EVER.
I use the natural green henna from Rajasthan, a province of India. The powder has a strong fragrance and grainy quality that requires careful handling. My favorite mixes include rose water, lavender essential oil, sugar and a few drops of lemon. I also use a very concentrated form known as 'irk'. The paste is so dense and gel like that it instantly stains the skin in a dark chocolate color that resembles black ink.
Here are the final pictures. This was a big photoshoot, I ended up with a lot of really nice pictures. A huge thank you to my new friends who lent their time, and their magnificent fire breathing Challengers for the evening, and to our stunning as always assistant, Jessica, and our newest model, the beautiful Destiny! I'm having a really hard time picking my favorites!
Today I had the opportunity to attend one of Kansas City's best car shows. The Art of the Car Concourse is held in the summertime, on the lawn near the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, at the Kansas City Art Institute. Unlike many of the car shows I've attended over the years, this one is 100% celebration. The vibe coming from the crowd was unlike anything I've experienced. Everyone was so friendly and the atmosphere was bustling with auto enthusiasm.
From the shiny new Aston Martin Vanquish sporting blood red stitched Alcantara headliner and the BMW I3 with the seats made from recycled plastic bottles, to the Packard Panther smiling at you through its menacingly large grill, to the very rare BMW M1 screaming to it's distant cousin across the lawn, ending with the row of Ford Concepts and even a Pinanfirina concept; the show was a feast for any car lover.
While I love just about everything I saw today, with a special grin on my face seeing the cherry 1991 Acura NSX with matching luggage, the show winner (and what got my vote in the peoples choice ballot) was the 1961 Ferrari 250 GTE Series 1. What struck me was that not only do you not see this historical car often, but you NEVER see them in this kind of condition..........driven. The paint, seats, engine, and even the tires showed their age. This makes me smile more than anything. Why am I smiling at this "less than" specimen while others are gawking at the pristine Bugatti only steps away? It's simple. This condition means that it's been driven. A lot. Beautiful cars are meant to be enjoyed, not only by collectors who wish to keep them locked away in the garage, but by drivers who want to experience what the auto designer meant for them to experience.
I loved seeing one of my dream cars sitting there in all it's glory, being admired by the onlookers. At the same time I tap my wife on the shoulder and tell her "some day". She smiles knowing that I mean some day we will own an Acura NSX, and it will be driven as much as possible.
Maybe you will see one of your dreams here in these photographs. If not, I'll be sure to capture them next year... I plan to go back for a lot longer this time.
